With over 35 years of experience in the tourism and events industry, Mauricio Arévalo began his career as a certified tour guide and now leads TAM Travel Corporation—the first travel company ever established in Costa Rica, which he acquired in 2022. Known for his creativity, strategic vision, and commitment to excellence, Mauricio has held top executive roles at the country’s leading DMCs.
In 2003, he founded Costa Rica DMC Inc, which today stands as the country’s preferred destination management company for high-impact events and incentive travel programs.
Mauricio is also the founder of the Guanacaste Marketing Organization (DMO), an initiative uniting top resorts, attractions, and DMCs to position Guanacaste as a premier MICE destination. He previously served as the founding President of the SITE Central America Chapter and currently sits on the International Board of Directors for ADMEI.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Mauricio enjoys cooking, swimming, dancing, and spending time with his 15 beloved dogs—some of whom are frequent visitors to his office.
