DMCP Study Buddies

Join those interested in becoming DMCPs for a four-week study session preparing you for the DMCP exam. Led by Brian Ferrell, CMP, DMCP and Lisa DeLeon, DMCP, the Study Buddies will take a deep dive into formulas, glossary terms, and relevant material from the newest edition of “Best Practices in Destination Management” book to help you prepare for the exam.  

Mondays: 12, 19, 26 January and 2 February from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

By the end of the four-week study session, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of key concepts, glossary terms, and foundational principles outlined in the Best Practices in Destination Management to accurately apply them within destination and event planning scenarios.
2. Calculate and interpret essential industry formulas—such as staffing, service ratios, transportation timing, costing, and markup/margin—to support data-driven decision making in destination management assignments.
3. Analyze case-based questions to identify best-practice approaches related to risk management, vendor procurement, logistics, destination research, and client communication—mirroring the format of the DMCP exam.
4. Explain the DMC business model, revenue streams, and operational functions—recognizing how destination experience design, client service, and program execution interconnect across the project life cycle.
5. Increase confidence and readiness for the DMCP exam through collaborative discussion, peer-supported study habits, learning retention strategies, and guided Q&A with seasoned DMCP leaders.

You do not have to be a DMCP candidate to attend. You should have purchased the “Best Practices in Destination Management” book prior to January 12. Advance chapter readings required. It is recommended that you attend the DMCP Study Session that is also offered in conjunction with the exam.

 The next DMCP exam will be conducted in Costa Rica on 1 March in conjunction with the ADMEI Annual Conference or during the online testing period of 15 February – 15 March.
